It all began on a quiet afternoon, when Camilo and Don Roberto’s family decided to give shape to a dream: creating a different kind of school, a place where every student would be seen beyond grades, where real learning would grow from each child’s talents, passions, and emotions. That’s how Gimnasio Campestre Los Alpes was born.
Camilo assumed the legal responsibility of the project, and Don Roberto, with his steady hands and builder’s vision, began raising what would later become the GCA. These were more than bricks they were foundations of hope.
In 2005, the school opened its first office in Bogotá, a space that quickly became a meeting point, a place where families started to trust in a project that breathed future. That same year, 11 pioneering teachers arrived dreamers committed to teaching through an innovative pedagogy that always placed the student at the center.
The year 2006 marked the beginning of school life with 32 students, the first to fill the hallways with laughter, footsteps, and questions. Their arrival was the true birth of Los Alpes: the moment when the project stopped being an ideal and became a reality.
In 2009, excitement reached a new level with the first class of 18 graduates. These were more than diplomas they were confirmation that Los Alpes was fulfilling its mission. That same year, the community came together for the first Artistic Festival and Family Day, which would go on to become one of the most cherished traditions.
But like any story, there were difficult moments. In 2010, the community faced the painful loss of its founder, Don Roberto Hernández Rincón. His passing left an empty space, but also an indelible legacy: every classroom, every corner of the school carried his essence. Although uncertainty arose, his memory fueled the strength to keep moving forward.
Sunshine returned in 2017, when Los Alpes began to stand out prominently in the educational landscape. The community spoke of its closeness with students and the excellent academic results achieved through personalized support. That year marked the start of a period of recognition and pride.
2019 brought a special milestone: the first interschool soccer tournament. Although the outcome wasn’t what they had hoped for, the experience was unforgettable. “If you ask us, we finished last, but that dignified participation filled us with pride,” they still recall with a smile. That first step opened the door to the sports life that has flourished in the school ever since.
And so, step by step, laugh by laugh, achievement after achievement, we arrive at 2025. Today, Gimnasio Campestre Los Alpes proudly celebrates 20 years of history. Twenty years of learning, united families, and students who found a second home within these walls.
Los Alpes is more than a school: it is a community, a family, a place where every student discovers they have wings to fly and mountains to conquer. With eyes set on the future, the commitment remains firm: to be a beacon, a guide, an inspiration.
Because at Los Alpes, every day, every story, and every smile continues building the education of tomorrow.
